I tried replugging, and unplugged before plugging it hours later. Both didn't work. I unplugged it and told Ban what happened. I asked him to contact the repairman if it didn't work the next day.</p><p>Like previously, it did work the next day. So, I'm hoping that by making it a habit to unplug after every use, we could use this machine much longer.</p><p>I also tested the socket and it worked with my phone charger. I've used another socket for the machine and it didn't work. So, either the machine is faulty...or maybe it's just the plug? Hmmm.<br /></p>Jaded Jeremyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16243642366024749641noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6025856931843623443.post-70253741137145648782024-03-23T20:31:00.001+08:002024-03-23T20:31:00.249+08:00Mysterious washing machine<p>Recently, our washing machine konked out: nothing happened when I pressed the Power button. Tried like 3 times. Tested the wall socket with two other appliances and it worked. <br /></p><p>Based on Google review rating, Ban called a repairman. They said that the malfunction was probably due to spoiled motherboard and asked us to send screenshot of the serial number so that they could quote the price of a new motherboard. Ban did that but they have yet to respond.</p><p>So the next morning I asked Ban to try another. This repairman ("The Repair Guy" on Google haha) came and as soon as he tried, the machine works again @@ He just started it and observe until the start of the spin cycle and pronounced that the machine behaved itself because the 'doctor' was here :D So, we offered to pay him transport fee, which he quoted as RM 50.</p><p>Later, my sister told me that this happened to her washing machine, which later on broke down anyway. I guessed we have to be prepared for that scenario. This machine has been with us for donkey years. Hope the next one will be just as good too, if not better. <br /></p>Jaded Jeremyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16243642366024749641noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6025856931843623443.post-89079061576451054612024-03-20T12:43:00.002+08:002024-03-20T12:43:13.886+08:00Orthopedic second opinion<p>After asking our friends for recommendation, we decided to seek second opinion from Dr Tan Chun Ee at Penang Adventist Hospital (PAH). The appointment was 10 days after we l<a href="https://jadedjeremy.blogspot.com/2024/03/sudden-lower-body-pain.html" target="_blank">ast consulted Dr Joehaimey</a>. </p><p>In my previous blog post, I forgot to mention that Dr Joehaimy replaced the medicine Lyrica with Gabapentin and retained Norgesic. Meanwhile, my mum's leg cramp worsened. My aunt, who used to get cramps too, suggested my mum to get supplement that has calcium, magnesium and vitamin D, which also would help in strengthening bone. The local pharmacist thus recommended Flexical, which has calcium, vitamin D3 and K2, and magnesium. Deficiency in magnesium may cause cramp. Also, a quick check on research papers show that calcium and vitamin D are recommended for people at risk of fracture but "Data on vitamin K2 and magnesium supplementation with regard to bone and muscle health are promising but still inconclusive." <br /></p><p>Four days before the appointment i.e. 6 days on the above medication and supplment,</p><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>The pain in the pelvic area increased in both intensity and duration</li><li>Leg cramps gradually became less frequent</li><li>No more constipation</li><li>Still have to add 1 tab of paracetamol to the medicine to manage the pain</li></ul><p>At PAH, Dr Tan performed a detailed physical examination on my mum (unlike Dr Joehaimy). Dr Tan gave a somewhat different opinion: the pain was most likely due to the movements of the bones above and below of the bones fixed with the titanium plate and screws and thereby closing the gap between them. As expected, MRI was needed to confirm this and so one was scheduled two days later, followed by consultation with the doctor thereafter.</p><p>On the MRI day, unfortuantely I had diarrhea, gastric, stomach cramp and general weakeness and so my mind was quite foggy. It was a good thing that Ban agreed to drive us. The whole process of getting MRI done i.e. registraion, payment of deposit and getting MRI done took about 1 hour and 20 mins. There were a lot of patients at the Imaging Department.</p><p>Despite the MRI personnel's estimated 2 hours, the results of MRI was out almost immediately. Dr Tan was ready to see us about 30 mins after MRI was done. MRI confirmed the narrowing of gap such that nerve is pinched, especially the gap above the titanium plate. This takes years to happen and it has reached this critical juncture where it starts to cause immense pain.<br /></p><p>In short, there are two choices:</p><ol style="text-align: left;"><li>Medicine + physio. 50-60% chance of working, or</li><li>Surgery to widen the gaps and to stabilise, using plate and pins, a bone that is already slightly out of place. 90% chance of able to walk. </li></ol><p>Because I was less sharp than usual, I didn't ask the following questions:</p><ol style="text-align: left;"><li>If opt for medicine + physio, is it likely that surgery will be needed anyway in the future?</li><li>Re surgery, what's the other 10% outcome? Status quo and/or worse?</li></ol><p>Mum accepted the doctor's advice to initially try medicine + physio for two weeks before going back to him for a review. <br /></p>Jaded Jeremyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16243642366024749641noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6025856931843623443.post-46060629803546484552024-03-17T17:28:00.001+08:002024-03-17T17:28:00.139+08:00Dr. iDevice<p>Sometime last year, the top right side of Ban's phone started to blacken. It started small but grew gradually to obscure the battery icon. So he decided to get it fixed, in case it became serious. It was quite a good timing too because we were about to go to Australia.</p><p>We went to Samsung service centre at One Utama. Waited quite sometime, only to be told that they no longer stock spare parts for that phone. After googling and checking its reviews, I suggested Dr. iDevice to him. </p><p>Lenise, who was manning the outlet in One Utama, was helpful, friendly and professional. She first checked whether they could get hold of the display part. Then she quoted the fee to Ban and explained the process of fixing it. Due to the circumstances at that time, Ban left his phone with them. They called me the next day to collect it as soon as it was fixed.</p><p>So, when recently my phone's screen cracked after it dropped onto tarred road (it cracked exactly where the screen protector couldn't protect), I right away thought of Dr. iDevice. I didn't even think of going to Asus service centre. In any case, warranty period is already over and later on I checked that the the nearest service centre was not as convinient as going to One Utama.</p><p>Firstly, Lenise offered me option of original and non-original screen replacement, with estimated cost. She explained the difference between them. I chose original. Then she checked for supply and exact cost. Because it was already night, she couldn't confirm whether supplier has existing stock (and hence can be done the next day) or need to order (takes 10-14 days). So the plan was for her to call me as soon as there's stock, which was the next day. Yay!</p><p>The next day, we dropped the phone first at the shop before going for dinner. We were told it would take 1 to 2 hours but it actually took only 30 minutes. Once collected, she asked me to test a few functions e.g. audio, speaker, touch screen, fingerprint, camera etc. I'm happy it's working well :) <br /></p>Jaded Jeremyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16243642366024749641noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6025856931843623443.post-13032263048575683742024-03-14T17:31:00.027+08:002024-03-14T17:31:00.143+08:00Assorted food #4<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrCT20jGg5Z-aaFJVSgsLaWOkxobUt4TxnrhHBnv_s6QIj9-w_ripLgJq4qBqEqj-8KjSlgNg_CGKFtZU7B5FJZeIVjRwpcM6ILiHLaa5Z4SExKn5qHIGr37Tku8J2Mwnv_FAyUx0C_ObTgdcBV3di51hsrbunt-FC-6UTBYzOfBl1jkktZEfzB7Tw7mE/s1080/KBN%20Special%20Sliced%20Beef%20Noodle%20(2).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="486" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrCT20jGg5Z-aaFJVSgsLaWOkxobUt4TxnrhHBnv_s6QIj9-w_ripLgJq4qBqEqj-8KjSlgNg_CGKFtZU7B5FJZeIVjRwpcM6ILiHLaa5Z4SExKn5qHIGr37Tku8J2Mwnv_FAyUx0C_ObTgdcBV3di51hsrbunt-FC-6UTBYzOfBl1jkktZEfzB7Tw7mE/w288-h640/KBN%20Special%20Sliced%20Beef%20Noodle%20(2).jpeg" width="288" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0aWQ3pXNAy77MRFSG7umEsVloSXVLMWRwOxlIxZMWUGYvqy-4ogHKBOA2q9demLLNJbVgsMbO26o6RnXEyHvKQEwUAQZHSw4c7N90H_2z3T3kLdot3jaQjCumw_UdwlZZWddMJ7JyhTqSGMavzrmvgMv00nc5XdM4LGQp9mL_tR2QH5U7fmje1VVkSFw/s1080/KBN%20Special%20Sliced%20Beef%20Noodle%20(1).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="486" data-original-width="1080" height="288" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0aWQ3pXNAy77MRFSG7umEsVloSXVLMWRwOxlIxZMWUGYvqy-4ogHKBOA2q9demLLNJbVgsMbO26o6RnXEyHvKQEwUAQZHSw4c7N90H_2z3T3kLdot3jaQjCumw_UdwlZZWddMJ7JyhTqSGMavzrmvgMv00nc5XdM4LGQp9mL_tR2QH5U7fmje1VVkSFw/w640-h288/KBN%20Special%20Sliced%20Beef%20Noodle%20(1).jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p>The difference between this special sliced beef and the usual one is that the former is marinated with some spices and a sweet sauce. She was managing it with paracetamols, 2 tabs three times daily. </p><p>Since we didn't know any particular orthopedist in private hospitals (it was only recently that I remember <a href="https://jadedjeremy.blogspot.com/2019/08/the-case-for-surgery.html" target="_blank">Dr Prashant</a>), I targeted one at KPJ Penang Specialist Hospital since it's in mainland Penang (instead of on the island). I made appointment for my mum with Dr Joehaimey since he has the earliest suitable date.</p><p>The moment she walked through his door, he immediately asked her whether the pain from her right side. We were both quite impressed. He was in turn impressed with mum's prepared list of medication that she presented to him on a piece of paper. The key information seems to be the surgery she had back in 2011 to insert titanium plate and screws in her lower spine. He guessed that there's accumalated wear and tear due to aging. So to confirm it, X-ray was first ordered. Blood test was also ordered to rule out infection. Both results would be discussed at the next appointment 6 days later.<br /></p><p>Meanwhile, mum was prescribed Norgesic and Lyrica to manage the pain. Unfortunately, occassionally she had to also take paracetamol (one tab) to get the pain level to bearable level. The sudden spike in pain from the pelvic area still happened. The slightly good news was that there was no longer squeezing pain in her legs, only occassional pain when the spike came about. There was, however, occassional cramping.</p><p>The X-ray showed there was a bone protruding out of the spine into onto the space where the spinal cord is (which contains nerves). This sounded like bone spur (osteophyte), which I asked the doctor for confirmation. He either didn't hear me or there was language barrier. That is one downside with Dr Joehaimey: he appeared to have some difficulties in communicating in English. Anyway, in any case, the radiologist's report, which I obtained after the appointment, did indicate osteophytes but I can't tell whether it was referring to that particular protusion of not.</p><p>The doctor's best guess is that this protruding bone is pressing on the nerves and thus causing pain. This can only be confirmed via an MRI. Even if it's true, he would not perform surgery to remove it because it's "very, very risk...level 3 risky" as it involves removing the titatium plate and screws too. The only other option is to manage the pain with medicine. Once again, due to language barrier, I couldn't understand his response to my question of whether medicine would be adequate to manage the pain given that he said that it would gradually worsen over the years.</p><p>After discussing with my sister, we decided (with my mum's agreement) to seek second opinion. Just in case the second doctor orders an MRI regardless of whether one was already done, we decided to save time, effort and money by not proceeding with MRI at KPJ.<br /></p>Jaded Jeremyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16243642366024749641noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6025856931843623443.post-32396355417795473252024-03-05T16:56:00.001+08:002024-03-05T16:56:00.161+08:00An inPAWtant notice<p>This was at Eades Park in Melbourne:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUVyXfNsIKy4X6obNLI38qRRxELgfH-BnBxOmW7L-n00t0MMjDiDUc-orS0Z6wcVnXtiy8IdxSwB3DmLJLLrxpWWJM5dxeF-tqRglMW4IqkT-RkK_28-1q6keO6R5AzYz-2y3tkme11fYHfV60xmUXsV4bFDBv60frd76n2jxVwmu3sVt_l3vguyuksO0/s721/An%20imPAWtant%20notice.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="627" data-original-width="721" height="556" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUVyXfNsIKy4X6obNLI38qRRxELgfH-BnBxOmW7L-n00t0MMjDiDUc-orS0Z6wcVnXtiy8IdxSwB3DmLJLLrxpWWJM5dxeF-tqRglMW4IqkT-RkK_28-1q6keO6R5AzYz-2y3tkme11fYHfV60xmUXsV4bFDBv60frd76n2jxVwmu3sVt_l3vguyuksO0/w640-h556/An%20imPAWtant%20notice.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div>Jaded Jeremyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16243642366024749641noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6025856931843623443.post-2183608859763791482024-03-02T19:00:00.033+08:002024-03-02T19:00:00.149+08:00Weevils at Lotus's Paradigm Mall<p>Yes, they were in packs of Jasmine Harumas Wangi Rice 5kg. Here's my email to Lotus's:</p><p></p><blockquote>My friend and I nearly bought a bag of 5 kg rice that has weevil in it.<br /> <br />I approached the staff at the self-checkout counter but she just stared at me, asking me what I wanted her to do. I of course wanted it to be put away so that nobody buys it and yet she asked me to just put it back on the shelf, saying that it's not her job and it's the job of the stock worker. Instead of saying it's not her job, it would be better if she had directed me to the correct person or even better, contact her colleague.<br /> <br />She then asked me to pass the bag of rice to the personnel at the service counter, who, thankfully, took it away from me and agreed with me that it should not be put back for someone else to purchase.<br /> <br />Meanwhile, my friend looked at this brand of rice and discovered that there were many more bags of them with weevils in them. Coincidentally, the stock worker was arranging other bags of rice nearby and so I spoke with her. She was thankful that I highlighted this to her but I noticed that she didn't do anything to prevent the sale of these bags of rice. This contrasts my experience at AEON Big where the worker immediately removed expired bottles of milk once I highlighted them to him.<br /> <br />I suggest that proper SOPs are put in place to addres the following:<br />(1) Make sure each staff knows who can help customers if it's not within their job scope. Ignoring customers' reasonable request (especially when they're trying to help Lotus's!) leaves a bad impression.<br />(2) Make sure that goods that are unfit for sale are ring fenced e.g. remove them or place sign to indicate that these are not for sale.<br /> <br />I hope appropriate measure will be put in place very soon as we hope to continue shopping at Lotus's in future. Thank you for your time </blockquote><p></p><p>I sent the email at 8.43pm and I was surprised to receive a response at 9.59pm, asking me for the name of rice and my phone number, which I provided. Three days later, I received this:</p><p></p><blockquote>Thank you for contacting Lotus’s Malaysia.<br /><br />We apologize for the delay in responding to your email. <br /><br />In response regarding to your issue. Please accept our sincere apology for the disappointment that this must have caused you. We will ensure to take all measures possible to review and improve our service. <br /><br />We have forwarded your concerns to the management for their further action on the matter raised. We sincerely hope that the negative experience will not deter you from visiting us. We are always looking for ways to better our service, and your feedback is an invaluable part of that process. <br /><br />We apologize for the inconvenience caused.</blockquote><p>A few days later, I received a call from Lotus's service officer at Paradigm Mall. In short, she wanted me to provide her key details so that she could look at CCTV footage of the appropriate time, in case the relevant staff deny it happened. She thanked me for my help and feedback and apologised for the incident.<br /></p><p></p>Jaded Jeremyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16243642366024749641noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6025856931843623443.post-2735748843623827932024-02-28T13:26:00.001+08:002024-02-28T13:26:00.132+08:00Sushi Go!<p>Boardgame turns into restaurant?!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEnrtKBWEz3m5yM7BzNN2xn7LioEPntDMx15fgQUrDECHew3cvM-FSdlh2wOeulqRhQC-ho0Oq8K6ZHlBnHinAYlSVAqLqKLbbSQs79GrgRA4MGPdtQzNeif4f_A41VcsN4eDlt8Z1kBn06oPMNLLb2DSS5-ZhnTd1O9BMHYHdQ5krZGBVsjn9CG2lbuw/s1080/Sushi%20Go%20Restaurant.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="810" data-original-width="1080" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEnrtKBWEz3m5yM7BzNN2xn7LioEPntDMx15fgQUrDECHew3cvM-FSdlh2wOeulqRhQC-ho0Oq8K6ZHlBnHinAYlSVAqLqKLbbSQs79GrgRA4MGPdtQzNeif4f_A41VcsN4eDlt8Z1kBn06oPMNLLb2DSS5-ZhnTd1O9BMHYHdQ5krZGBVsjn9CG2lbuw/w400-h300/Sushi%20Go%20Restaurant.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br />Jaded Jeremyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16243642366024749641noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6025856931843623443.post-16044051348886462752024-02-25T17:22:00.003+08:002024-02-25T17:22:00.123+08:00Mama Kim Wellness Kitchen @Kota Kemuning<p>Due to some foolish actions by a relative, Ban and I found ourselves at Shah Alam JPJ and so I took the opportunity to contact a friend to lunch with us. Purchased property<p>As I stated in a <a href="https://jadedjeremy.blogspot.com/2024/02/cpf-closure.html" target="_blank">previous post</a>, CPF staff told me that the standard processing time to deposit my money into my bank account was 5 months. Hence, I am surprised that it was done 3 weeks later! Wow.</p><p>Once again, the Singapore government agencies' hallmarked efficiency was in effect. Thank you!</p><p>Also, the amount was a little more than the balance as at end of 2023. They probably added in prorated interest (unexpected because interest is declared on a quarterly basis but credited annually) and maybe partially refunded Eldershield premium. Either way, this is much appreciated!</p><p>On a related news, I recently purchased a condo unit in the same block as my sister's unit. I've been mulling over this for over a year already. The only important reason for this is to have a place where my mum can live in if she ever needs a helper due to health condition, like how my dad needed one especially when he was no longer mobile. My sister's place simply has no space to for a helper to live in. My plan is that once mum is weak but still mobile, I'll move in and look after her. Otherwise, as long as she's healthy, it's best she lives with my sister's family because of the two grandchildren :)</p><p>It's important to get a unit in the same condo project so that mum and my sister's family can easily spend time with each other. To get one in the same block is even better. <br /></p><p>Once this unit is renovated, I'll try to get it rented out for as long as my mum doesn't need to live in it yet. I'm glad that my sister accepted my offer to hire her (with compensation, of course) as my renovation project manager :) She also found an agent who does tenancy management, so that's great!</p><p>I plan to nearly fully furnish the unit so as to attract "higher level position staff" (to quote the agent) to minimise the risk of bad paymaster. Hope all goes well!<br /></p>Jaded Jeremyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16243642366024749641noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6025856931843623443.post-24086599766900079962024-02-16T14:17:00.003+08:002024-02-23T17:19:39.246+08:00Rise & Sip<p>Saw their advert on the sides of escalators in 3 Damansara and so I checked their Google rating and reviews. 5 stars from about 20 reviews! I definitely plan to dine there whenever we shop at NSK. Previously, it was quite a hassle shopping at NSK because of lack of eating choices with suitable food.</p><p>PS: It still have average Google rating of 5 stars!</p><p>Edit: It turns out that Ban had the cajun prawn pokenowl, whereas it as his brother who ahd the pokebowl above.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqi-RslWx3ogQtHfH2BYD5k_FoLzshG-jBsZCQn4NV0vnJXw3_Q-CSL4blCWRGuAmi7tcxVm11jhTUinhXpsOl6w1tBQNqIrRLoYgh6bMbBJRDoyQ7ypQa0g4qLj7-pDYzGIhmxLQ910yysRh1-R2Myip8SXPn3IIdd3DOg59DXQI_bpXx9c3uelCwaMs/s1144/Rise%20&%20Sip%20%20(3).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="858" data-original-width="1144" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqi-RslWx3ogQtHfH2BYD5k_FoLzshG-jBsZCQn4NV0vnJXw3_Q-CSL4blCWRGuAmi7tcxVm11jhTUinhXpsOl6w1tBQNqIrRLoYgh6bMbBJRDoyQ7ypQa0g4qLj7-pDYzGIhmxLQ910yysRh1-R2Myip8SXPn3IIdd3DOg59DXQI_bpXx9c3uelCwaMs/w640-h480/Rise%20&%20Sip%20%20(3).jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><p>I had this pokebowl on my second visit and it was delicious!</p><p>However, sadly, the average Google rating has fallen to 4.3 due to four 1-star reviews. We got curious because we know what gacha refers to. So, he googled and found a video about it (I listened to it as I was driving). I was intrigued and so suggested that one day we go there for drinks after a meal.</p><p>We went there after having lunch at <a href="https://jadedjeremy.blogspot.com/2023/04/kings-beef-noodle-kbn-damansara-uptown.html" target="_blank">King's Beef Noodle</a>.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEge4EOQVF3cBD_dpy2AkmkY3l-DkolEWgZQ87LsxkKzJpImigqtfgH_AEOr9-3AePpoV7fGAyuOAp3tr_dJpCGPvC5aMmbZF4lGPlaJpN0zRB9qgdQXNSYIqkXWLYlwLV-tlzvItHsv2DzKNLsWKxrs2gnJ0NN6KKZjT8eeC5yw_Z2lIlix02TzSk9t2zE/s1080/GachaKohi%20(1).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="810" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEge4EOQVF3cBD_dpy2AkmkY3l-DkolEWgZQ87LsxkKzJpImigqtfgH_AEOr9-3AePpoV7fGAyuOAp3tr_dJpCGPvC5aMmbZF4lGPlaJpN0zRB9qgdQXNSYIqkXWLYlwLV-tlzvItHsv2DzKNLsWKxrs2gnJ0NN6KKZjT8eeC5yw_Z2lIlix02TzSk9t2zE/w480-h640/GachaKohi%20(1).jpeg" width="480" /></a></div><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFb3Q2q2SNuTMwrpKXlLcU7wtaEh1E5u8DKAqKUDblWuSlvIqlj6OwuZxw-2wkYkgzSnxDeF8qrnPmSPvPyGdMl6ZRAoApQ5xbLFJ0LsWYAgukkI2Mk2UcLb-s6MKl48VJi9VSzqkj1vL-zt5QJGEl2nVJbGrDaiZDkmqkeb2yhh-kmvAs6ahdMz76QcU/s1080/GachaKohi%20(3).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="810" data-original-width="1080" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFb3Q2q2SNuTMwrpKXlLcU7wtaEh1E5u8DKAqKUDblWuSlvIqlj6OwuZxw-2wkYkgzSnxDeF8qrnPmSPvPyGdMl6ZRAoApQ5xbLFJ0LsWYAgukkI2Mk2UcLb-s6MKl48VJi9VSzqkj1vL-zt5QJGEl2nVJbGrDaiZDkmqkeb2yhh-kmvAs6ahdMz76QcU/w640-h480/GachaKohi%20(3).jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_qV9SdZ8X-crsbZVxWkLsy6OnDd1DNw0pa_SzhuSj3i1nQBgtpgoJDozNfGR6ky5NVi-gyuWGXtfC8eJj2bvYisjgwnsJl8GSf_neRrg1_ejqmMaoYuWqbFR2I2LlmIXPm6W1TNVeHLVglyp6pshwDzCmFjA3sMo4Zr4SKmm4TxakfVDP2bxfZjbF_Ek/s1080/GachaKohi%20(6).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="810" data-original-width="1080" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_qV9SdZ8X-crsbZVxWkLsy6OnDd1DNw0pa_SzhuSj3i1nQBgtpgoJDozNfGR6ky5NVi-gyuWGXtfC8eJj2bvYisjgwnsJl8GSf_neRrg1_ejqmMaoYuWqbFR2I2LlmIXPm6W1TNVeHLVglyp6pshwDzCmFjA3sMo4Zr4SKmm4TxakfVDP2bxfZjbF_Ek/w640-h480/GachaKohi%20(6).jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><p></p><p>You can order drinks like in any other cafe but their main theme here is the gacha machine:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3kB4f0n12r2n1xloQaRqEGqohwHdCctlMLxT8FhL4aCTLFwarun8i95DepH7yqh1XvFyAgletYCFXICbC6ptZ2EM04FImxUr_kfjnOmsJl_5Q6y-alDhr4Qr5XkwzMTaX1WBRqHLdqo26l-xHVQTsTQ8ZVai9DYBwtYhME6rrN65qZ3ApK7UKkrFcA_Y/s1080/GachaKohi%20(2).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="810" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3kB4f0n12r2n1xloQaRqEGqohwHdCctlMLxT8FhL4aCTLFwarun8i95DepH7yqh1XvFyAgletYCFXICbC6ptZ2EM04FImxUr_kfjnOmsJl_5Q6y-alDhr4Qr5XkwzMTaX1WBRqHLdqo26l-xHVQTsTQ8ZVai9DYBwtYhME6rrN65qZ3ApK7UKkrFcA_Y/w480-h640/GachaKohi%20(2).jpeg" width="480" /></a></div><p>Each machine contain balls with different colours that refer to different drinks but they are of the same 'theme'. The signing of the form also needs to be witnessed by the commissioner.<br /><br />There is, however, a third way that is open only to Malaysians: complete and submit an online form but with the restriction that the CPF money will be given only in the form of a cheque i.e. there's no option for it to be transferred to a designated bank account.<br /><br />I chose the third way but a week later on 23rd Jan, I received an email from CPF board to submit supporting documents via method (1) or (2). So essentially, I wasted my time doing the third way! Much later, upon query, the CPF officer attending to me at the service centre told me that the third way is only for Malaysians with CPF account balance less than SGD 20k but that's no where stated in the form! Grrr.<br /><br />What's worse was that the earliest appointment with Singapore High Commissioner for this particular purpose is in Oct 2024! That will leave my CPF money earning pittance (similar to "commercial bank interest rates") for too long. So method (2) is out.<br /><br />As for method (1), I first have to book online an appointment with a particular CPF Service Centre (as instructed by the email). In short, there were no dates available in Jan or Feb for hours until I checked again just before dinner and suddenly 24th Jan (the next day!) had appointment slots available. I quickly grabbed the 9.45am and then purchased a 6.40 am flight on Firefly (about RM 1,300!) from Subang airport to Seletar airport in Singapore.</p><p>Yes, it was a one-day trip. I'm grateful that I needed to spend only about 20 minutes (including waiting time) at the centre to get everything done. Later, I met an ex-colleague for lunch before flying back to Subang airport. Encountered a strange Grab driver at the airport: he indicated that he was at the pick-up location although clearly he wasn't. He didn't respond to my message or pick up my call. I cancelled that ride and got another one. Fortunately, after I complained to Grab, they refunded me the cancellation fee without fuss and with much apology. They also gave that errant driver a strike.</p><p>Now I have to wait up to 5 months for the money to be deposited into my bank account. Yes, 5 months omg.<br /></p>Jaded Jeremyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16243642366024749641noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6025856931843623443.post-60811346903209960522024-02-04T10:35:00.006+08:002024-02-04T10:35:00.143+08:00SQ 232<p>For the <a href="https://jadedjeremy.blogspot.com/2023/12/multi-city-trip.html" target="_blank">recent trip to Australia</a>, I juggled a few things so that we could fly Singapore Airlines from Australia (Sydney) to Singapore for the first time, chiefly to compare it to Malaysia Airlines. I wasn't disappointed: I loved it!<br /></p><p>There is a possibility that the experience was coloured by the fact that the plane was an Airbus 380 (double-decked!) but nevertheless I enjoyed that flight. Boarding was on time. Departure was only slightly delayed. Service was excellent. Seats and entertainment sets were in good condition. I remember MAS's entertainment set was poorly responsive to touch and its sound quality was significantly worse.</p><p>However, I am a little miffed with their check-in system, as documented in <a href="https://jadedjeremy.blogspot.com/2024/01/sia-false-alarm.html" target="_blank">this blog post</a>. <br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhijtbaiSw3xew2muf39TeKJlcOb_ejxhCuvuD1F8BZ6pL2R0gLyZFr_cLvrPzt1HKAo-fx899ioiMk7s_AbSSl7Of-gkoTHmJ3FVKAEbTZInDTpJgXEr2wCXf-y7dyiCwAqMVGcvAYjKLQHqe3MCIwWyGk_R6I7vYIhmpfKlj_MxsfjZ7dCU2KM4jkwHw/s1280/SIA%2012Jan24%20(2).jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1280" data-original-width="960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhijtbaiSw3xew2muf39TeKJlcOb_ejxhCuvuD1F8BZ6pL2R0gLyZFr_cLvrPzt1HKAo-fx899ioiMk7s_AbSSl7Of-gkoTHmJ3FVKAEbTZInDTpJgXEr2wCXf-y7dyiCwAqMVGcvAYjKLQHqe3MCIwWyGk_R6I7vYIhmpfKlj_MxsfjZ7dCU2KM4jkwHw/w480-h640/SIA%2012Jan24%20(2).jpeg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiATq37TCt6VW4jGdlSIplyXGVw4hrEAgmofNcAXx8mPSNX2HIOPmNDnIHCa8jy9wOuWN_1hwPsWiYKICvX7ggzRk4ZBgu-7ka-aNv2u0QxppaL8rWtTwqThlIfF6hVHErxdT9Bmbs41D7-_XVBwpMk_vQNveLg7CnYKrjBlDJeeG0squHJpD-u_eFjCFY/s1144/SIA%2012Jan24%20(4).jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1144" data-original-width="858" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiATq37TCt6VW4jGdlSIplyXGVw4hrEAgmofNcAXx8mPSNX2HIOPmNDnIHCa8jy9wOuWN_1hwPsWiYKICvX7ggzRk4ZBgu-7ka-aNv2u0QxppaL8rWtTwqThlIfF6hVHErxdT9Bmbs41D7-_XVBwpMk_vQNveLg7CnYKrjBlDJeeG0squHJpD-u_eFjCFY/w480-h640/SIA%2012Jan24%20(4).jpeg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhm-cu_3vAbUHASyKM4NxU9biXRs6VlTSej-9Q8Vf-3ziCl-Bu-Dx0ND_kMba2Ks05rVUSLd_07VSEniU6NDHbn6BL81uWrO4MaXm-hIJNuqeh_nn0i4IHL8crjUDhsmd-JmOLAe3Ad0445iTc-nqpyVmiF65_OGsBLOqTncUBYkWMUDOSJ3ouDdQlwPE/s1144/SIA%2012Jan24%20(5).jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="858" data-original-width="1144" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhm-cu_3vAbUHASyKM4NxU9biXRs6VlTSej-9Q8Vf-3ziCl-Bu-Dx0ND_kMba2Ks05rVUSLd_07VSEniU6NDHbn6BL81uWrO4MaXm-hIJNuqeh_nn0i4IHL8crjUDhsmd-JmOLAe3Ad0445iTc-nqpyVmiF65_OGsBLOqTncUBYkWMUDOSJ3ouDdQlwPE/w640-h480/SIA%2012Jan24%20(5).jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><p></p><p> </p><p>Food was pretty good. Back home, I started to think about the benefits of having a blender:</p><ol style="text-align: left;"><li>Making my own smoothie that's much healthier than outside.</li><li>Having homemade smoothie greatly lessens the craving for one outside.</li><li>Much cheaper to have homemade smoothie (than buying one outside).</li><li>Can blend in the bland protein powder in the smoothie.</li><li>Can blend in oat. I usually have oat with milk each night.</li><li>Create my smoothies that aren't available outside.</li></ol><p>Recommendations from the internet were either not available on Shopee, had too many negative reviews or too expensive. A friend's mother recommended a good brand but too expensive and too huge for me.</p><p>Then I came across Panasonic MX-XP103WSR Tumbler Blender. Its size is great for me, it was cheap (RM 127 after discount/vouchers, original price was RM 169) and it had mostly positive reviews. The only comment that concerned me was that it was loud when in use. I then searched and watch a few videos of demonstration by buyers. Seems good enough for me.</p><p>It has 1-year warranty and I purchased an additional year of warranty from Shopee too.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_QCmZomGsdunaZ8TfQkbHXrsTL_wTKaUNUL0epXgRlBHJc2lQabnbjNVqZfN41zq_pt3LzDmueFp0AGjQDcUepJWuj6xS_D7axYh2ODDTumUl5KEg_3JVSXE66ZBIdN1IUcii-cnP5czlojMi3_MXaqMW3Vax15F8ZaL59z_R9V4vZW05TSluGEp_1N8/s1144/Panasonic%20Tumbler%20Blender%20(2).jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="858" data-original-width="1144" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_QCmZomGsdunaZ8TfQkbHXrsTL_wTKaUNUL0epXgRlBHJc2lQabnbjNVqZfN41zq_pt3LzDmueFp0AGjQDcUepJWuj6xS_D7axYh2ODDTumUl5KEg_3JVSXE66ZBIdN1IUcii-cnP5czlojMi3_MXaqMW3Vax15F8ZaL59z_R9V4vZW05TSluGEp_1N8/w400-h300/Panasonic%20Tumbler%20Blender%20(2).jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg8P2Jt7v5zuYNfP6pW9y6fiT8khWaeCYG25ZK08ahLOwb_fuRROfDP6bgj7Zl6WBX3hO-3l4I4yeAzYvIRohycZVE4OTuUfh_FS5Iz2ZC62qZQJPyPDKbuF054lALGW0eKHiEAgY7Yv8lk2zZfkxxh9XWkbAUQZGimwUZo1yTXHJcN3k1d1qHbBLim1Q/s1144/Panasonic%20Tumbler%20Blender%20(4).jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="858" data-original-width="1144" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg8P2Jt7v5zuYNfP6pW9y6fiT8khWaeCYG25ZK08ahLOwb_fuRROfDP6bgj7Zl6WBX3hO-3l4I4yeAzYvIRohycZVE4OTuUfh_FS5Iz2ZC62qZQJPyPDKbuF054lALGW0eKHiEAgY7Yv8lk2zZfkxxh9XWkbAUQZGimwUZo1yTXHJcN3k1d1qHbBLim1Q/w400-h300/Panasonic%20Tumbler%20Blender%20(4).jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><br /><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkylmO6Jp_9d4ak30H8X8ag-o_-cxnAkJdLXbmkWjZ8HpY_1Ev9KuUcqy2_7DstVm8HLDe9btsk8332aaaWvydkLb_5KIjEusk9hQM5X4fo-MaCKg5YOdcdETSmU5W445uLlWIVpzxOweMBNtL-LtRwEmYSKTgWiheI_AJHDtXXD13DHUIV3o9x-WaPgQ/s1144/Panasonic%20Tumbler%20Blender%20(1).jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1144" data-original-width="858" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkylmO6Jp_9d4ak30H8X8ag-o_-cxnAkJdLXbmkWjZ8HpY_1Ev9KuUcqy2_7DstVm8HLDe9btsk8332aaaWvydkLb_5KIjEusk9hQM5X4fo-MaCKg5YOdcdETSmU5W445uLlWIVpzxOweMBNtL-LtRwEmYSKTgWiheI_AJHDtXXD13DHUIV3o9x-WaPgQ/w300-h400/Panasonic%20Tumbler%20Blender%20(1).jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh944WlNZuZNjDwYz_jvnoUemJoOZH3eKjRwEGH0mv3kE-PtBAkcNQLFicGGLr0sZhV6N4TR1uAdn7MLXB5ItgX_nbmrsQ-jVqmUMVA2bFY4cFEVyPUw2Yokk6UZoVeUV7YVaHB6yGEro5Gwz9mb-arxUcCtaZ2gJcBT_QDajo1i1vQjAEkEW4INfasZf0/s1144/Panasonic%20Tumbler%20Blender%20(3).jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1144" data-original-width="858" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh944WlNZuZNjDwYz_jvnoUemJoOZH3eKjRwEGH0mv3kE-PtBAkcNQLFicGGLr0sZhV6N4TR1uAdn7MLXB5ItgX_nbmrsQ-jVqmUMVA2bFY4cFEVyPUw2Yokk6UZoVeUV7YVaHB6yGEro5Gwz9mb-arxUcCtaZ2gJcBT_QDajo1i1vQjAEkEW4INfasZf0/w480-h640/Panasonic%20Tumbler%20Blender%20(3).jpeg" width="480" /></a></div><p>It's been working great for me. I've since reduced it to 12 and that's ok: it was sufficiently dense and the blender didn't stop.<br /></p><p>One puzzling thing is that although normal ice cubes are permissible, frozen fruits are not. I did offer it to my sister for her children to use but she declined (after discussing it with husband). </p><p>Later, I read news of CeX setting up in Malaysia and the nearest outlet (there were only two) was at MyTown KL. Ban and I are reluctant to go to KL and so I didn't make an effort to go there to sell my laptop until we came across a few recycling bins at Megah Rise Mall, including one for laptops. So before I donated it, I wanted to give CeX a shot first.<br /></p><p>To make it a more worthwhile trip, we went there before lunch time. We took a wrong turn going there and that almost doubled our journey time from 35 minutes to 63 minutes @@</p><p>CeX didn't accept my laptop, apparently because of the degradation of the rubber legs and also that one spoiled key. Do they instead want used laptop in pristine condition? Anyway, I was already prepared for a negative response because the latop was already more than 10 years old, a reason that I'm surprised that CeX didn't use.</p><p>We had lunch at Baby Cami Sushi (a first for us), after looking through their menu. I normally would check Google review but this outlet was new and so there was none. Nevertheless, Ban and I decided to give it a try. It helped that there was a promotion where certain sushi, like salmon sushi, was selling nearly half its original price.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjsaZK3DyoeWevdfSDIHovP2wfO8X72jLonaDNL52tSclZ6tlD7hwZpjTtsT0cEKqPe6eguuZqjh5vcBQOhyphenhyphen5dCESeHJjeJZWaqNoxw8Nb7hyaL6ekrmu8v_d6BpXdTGQATzjk0LATB5IFwGcUfXoSrn91YPKhLpzvhweMEOiqZN0a7gPoNy7D4ixy06U/s1144/Baby%20Cami%20Sushi%20MyTown%20KL%20(3).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1144" data-original-width="858" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjsaZK3DyoeWevdfSDIHovP2wfO8X72jLonaDNL52tSclZ6tlD7hwZpjTtsT0cEKqPe6eguuZqjh5vcBQOhyphenhyphen5dCESeHJjeJZWaqNoxw8Nb7hyaL6ekrmu8v_d6BpXdTGQATzjk0LATB5IFwGcUfXoSrn91YPKhLpzvhweMEOiqZN0a7gPoNy7D4ixy06U/w300-h400/Baby%20Cami%20Sushi%20MyTown%20KL%20(3).jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5WPLx7vRO526PdvMwpE_0QVGwFSBii34rZrHvOGuH7EdziGCCFVMEpiBaHmUxllOdsyIthgupxoc0YEv-UMHzGr9_OSj-5kbuMGoapMI-Y6UafrCCrxPlEJMLEOZB7qQwbC2avDRYUnTOTB-gXDiE-0DGY1LhbiJV12lgSqFFgUl_stjRVH-cUyXxZYc/s1144/Baby%20Cami%20Sushi%20MyTown%20KL%20(4).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1144" data-original-width="858" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5WPLx7vRO526PdvMwpE_0QVGwFSBii34rZrHvOGuH7EdziGCCFVMEpiBaHmUxllOdsyIthgupxoc0YEv-UMHzGr9_OSj-5kbuMGoapMI-Y6UafrCCrxPlEJMLEOZB7qQwbC2avDRYUnTOTB-gXDiE-0DGY1LhbiJV12lgSqFFgUl_stjRVH-cUyXxZYc/w300-h400/Baby%20Cami%20Sushi%20MyTown%20KL%20(4).jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj35keEKlZPN5as99VpBQW0LvwedAzDrx6cKQE05nmEaI5BZ9aj2foeQ5zjKCjHN9gm4gVTb9CP-w2J5SjuRf2OnKu-oQeKQ9e-zxvLxanzhrDp_ov2MyFbTslWJuoSpvSXzfIG-2PvP6udql-jIB51GgD1ZDOgphRqFcu666W-KBBy7_OCg58MZP_K9Oc/s1144/Baby%20Cami%20Sushi%20MyTown%20KL%20(5).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1144" data-original-width="858" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj35keEKlZPN5as99VpBQW0LvwedAzDrx6cKQE05nmEaI5BZ9aj2foeQ5zjKCjHN9gm4gVTb9CP-w2J5SjuRf2OnKu-oQeKQ9e-zxvLxanzhrDp_ov2MyFbTslWJuoSpvSXzfIG-2PvP6udql-jIB51GgD1ZDOgphRqFcu666W-KBBy7_OCg58MZP_K9Oc/w300-h400/Baby%20Cami%20Sushi%20MyTown%20KL%20(5).jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicGBMACnUfdEJwuGuuxLhs1s698y-WdLXRG2aaPe3WlvFF-wJ_svjp6AQyNPJYFSGsF_uEUahoHQqwRNZTkfKZ7gTF3GAc4whDA4NVDPE4nEb_4nfOIAbtR_B4gVxSQQLy-S4PXax8eOSyDon_9uOZpX62ZiycxMi8tajm-eb0Ao7I4UiLLL9yKhb02fM/s1280/Baby%20Cami%20Sushi%20MyTown%20KL%20(1).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="1280" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicGBMACnUfdEJwuGuuxLhs1s698y-WdLXRG2aaPe3WlvFF-wJ_svjp6AQyNPJYFSGsF_uEUahoHQqwRNZTkfKZ7gTF3GAc4whDA4NVDPE4nEb_4nfOIAbtR_B4gVxSQQLy-S4PXax8eOSyDon_9uOZpX62ZiycxMi8tajm-eb0Ao7I4UiLLL9yKhb02fM/w400-h300/Baby%20Cami%20Sushi%20MyTown%20KL%20(1).jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMzh7MSd6xj1gcbT07mkS1Soj2qM5N_L90G64apJmu8BkruLIN5A881kxg4mNUQrgCfPhANQqsn_S_HT0KhmW1Q1RVwXKzpuCDiKsBELdY-bD3SbEqDurcJ4knTrpAchp9isWAVBvsZnTldZZG4aLQPNWuGU9C82SN2sV6d9xK7wU8e8xKibVY3RXfX-E/s1200/Baby%20Cami%20Sushi%20MyTown%20KL%20(2).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="540" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMzh7MSd6xj1gcbT07mkS1Soj2qM5N_L90G64apJmu8BkruLIN5A881kxg4mNUQrgCfPhANQqsn_S_HT0KhmW1Q1RVwXKzpuCDiKsBELdY-bD3SbEqDurcJ4knTrpAchp9isWAVBvsZnTldZZG4aLQPNWuGU9C82SN2sV6d9xK7wU8e8xKibVY3RXfX-E/w288-h640/Baby%20Cami%20Sushi%20MyTown%20KL%20(2).jpeg" width="288" /></a></div><p></p><p>The sushi was quite good. I didn't take medicine a few days before departure (ran out of fenofibrate, the previous medicine) and started taking 10mg atorvastatin (and finished the entire month's supply) during my stay in Australia. Then it was off medicine again for about 10 days before my annual health screening.</p><p>Since LDL is still below 4 and total cholesterol is below 6, this result is good enough according to the doctor, given my lifestyle and assessed low comorbidity risk. The crucial test would be in 3 months time.</p><p>The drop in HDL is expected as I seldom had salmon while in Australia, whereas back home I normally have it twice a week.</p><p>My WBC unexpected increased from 3.0 to 3.5. Hopefully it'll improve further, despite me not knowing how it happened.<br /></p>Jaded Jeremyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16243642366024749641noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6025856931843623443.post-58008263701352189252024-01-23T13:00:00.001+08:002024-01-23T13:00:00.149+08:00Shoddy journalism #5<p>(Emphasis is mine, to show the mistakes)</p><p>1. It's actually more expensive that way compared to taking MAS because we had to take another flight back to KL. It was worth it though: the experience was clearly better than I had with MAS the year before, in terms of service, food and entertainment unit. A caveat though: the aircraft was A380, which I'm not sure whether it played a part or not.</p><p>However, I had one small complaint:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiph0PepaMgSyyvhyVyQ9-PWZbdjdWgVqnrjzEZnBFQTxWcLXxcfaWtpi77IGmfECETAgmiYkVBFQLedXfHmkmRJNLvZ-Yiz7b8UzCdvgTidyyIke5lQrYkrO3ef5QlR8PB47_OtHpfCsCFRh-69Z-WazEp9dDWEfq6fEhkTGFcp-bkDhf8C_Ze2ZlKMJc/s568/SIA%20false%20alarm.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="568" data-original-width="540" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiph0PepaMgSyyvhyVyQ9-PWZbdjdWgVqnrjzEZnBFQTxWcLXxcfaWtpi77IGmfECETAgmiYkVBFQLedXfHmkmRJNLvZ-Yiz7b8UzCdvgTidyyIke5lQrYkrO3ef5QlR8PB47_OtHpfCsCFRh-69Z-WazEp9dDWEfq6fEhkTGFcp-bkDhf8C_Ze2ZlKMJc/w380-h400/SIA%20false%20alarm.jpeg" width="380" /></a></div><p>That was what I got when I tried checking in via its app. I panicked a little. Did the visa requirement changed for Malaysians? No, not according to official websites. Then why? FYI this was about 2 days before the flight itself.</p><p>My best guess was that due to our seats situated at the emergency exits. We purchased those seats for the extra leg room. Previously, I had problem getting my boarding pass from MAS via its app. Ban's boarding pass was issued but as for me, I was told to get it from airport check-in counter. Happened twice already and not with any other flights where we didn't seat at the emergency exits.</p><p>However, unlike SIA, MAS merely asked me to get my boarding pass on site and further assured me that I had checked in.</p><p>My guess was confirmed by the check-in counter staff. Actually, she didn't know the answer either to the bizarre SIA's message. I was the one who brought up my theory and she later confirmed that because she was asked by the sytem to confirm with us that we were ok with seating at the emergency exits. I would have thought they were also supposed to ask whether we would be willing to assist in opening the emergency exit doors when asked by cabin crew.</p><p>I don't know why SIA couldn't tailor the message as close to the truth as possible, rather than this alarming one.<br /></p>Jaded Jeremyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16243642366024749641noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6025856931843623443.post-9890469372886928452024-01-16T14:02:00.001+08:002024-01-16T14:02:00.142+08:00Chun Yang @One Utama<p>I passed by this shops a few times during those rare trips to One Utama. I remember being attracted by an aroma and surmised that it came from their drinks with lemon, which I'm not a fan of. Hence, I entirely forgot about it until one day Ban's brother ordered one for Ban to try (via Grab, most likely). Ban generally likes sweet sourish drink.</p><p>To my surprise, I loved that drink too. It was either Osmanthus Honey Lemon or Honey Lemon Oolong Tea. Can't remember as it was months ago.</p><p>The next time we were at One U, I decided to try this:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAARSAxTFfXHMxwyvDs5bB6F73T3TYgiYHPaiSX9eq7LPwPSOZ3Shhe4OudFuiM1pJXDiH5sCPiFaKhK3EpyHBwXcltaE-R7nZ1lIM9gUBWF4MlUNxF1OZGH71vfFofB-0jJQNwIKPiJncmqKsll-kHl-wwbQKYT_HWw7DT-Y_p04Agt6d1al_8XwbTVw/s1080/Osmanthus%20Honey%20Oolong%20Tea%20(1).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="810" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAARSAxTFfXHMxwyvDs5bB6F73T3TYgiYHPaiSX9eq7LPwPSOZ3Shhe4OudFuiM1pJXDiH5sCPiFaKhK3EpyHBwXcltaE-R7nZ1lIM9gUBWF4MlUNxF1OZGH71vfFofB-0jJQNwIKPiJncmqKsll-kHl-wwbQKYT_HWw7DT-Y_p04Agt6d1al_8XwbTVw/w300-h400/Osmanthus%20Honey%20Oolong%20Tea%20(1).jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCTyZm9JSCslndAyOVv13w6j3crsH0ZWfJ3nmA-a9D2_K3uW601oj06Kd_1T3jV4V4kEaU-iBhnoTljUQDXbUDS2FFJ6cORNNVuLbsgb8QA0DVjhNT4IJJ53NSrcJu4aKURxr-VLd2uyLK1U07Sn21tDzBDMDdywmBXHAyB772riRQgFp8bjan_74hz9M/s1080/Osmanthus%20Honey%20Oolong%20Tea%20(2).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="810" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCTyZm9JSCslndAyOVv13w6j3crsH0ZWfJ3nmA-a9D2_K3uW601oj06Kd_1T3jV4V4kEaU-iBhnoTljUQDXbUDS2FFJ6cORNNVuLbsgb8QA0DVjhNT4IJJ53NSrcJu4aKURxr-VLd2uyLK1U07Sn21tDzBDMDdywmBXHAyB772riRQgFp8bjan_74hz9M/w300-h400/Osmanthus%20Honey%20Oolong%20Tea%20(2).jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p>It was delicious and I would like to have it again. I might even try other drinks there. However, it's quite expensive and so it's not something I'll have often though. Well, I rarely go to One U and so that helps.</p>Jaded Jeremyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16243642366024749641noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6025856931843623443.post-30385121453148545922024-01-13T11:29:00.001+08:002024-01-13T11:29:00.142+08:00Six months to live<p>There was an episode in The Good Doctor where this question came up: what do you want to do if you know you have only 6 months to live?</p><p>I thought about it and I'm pleasantly surprised that the answer is that I will still do the same thing i.e. spend as much time as possible with my husband, my mum, my sisters and their respective families. I probably will travel more to spend even more time with them.</p><p>In a sense, I'm fortunate that I don't have a bucket list that includes, say, visit certain countries, achieve certain academic/sports milestones etc. I'm happy and blessed :)<br /></p>Jaded Jeremyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16243642366024749641noreply@blogger.com0
